Biography

I'm an early career endocrinologist serving as consultant at Narayana Health,

Bengaluru with MD General Medicine, DM Endocrinology & pursuing PhD from

Maastricht University. My career is highlighted by awards such as the National Merit Scholarship (2002), Bronze medal-PGIMER-Chandigarh (2012), and Young Innovator Award (RSSDI-2023, Diabetes-Technology) and travel grants.

Living with Cerebral Palsy helps me approach challenges with determination and optimism. I work closely with Karnataka Endocrine Society, contributing as member of standing committee. I organized BEACON-2023, engaging 500 doctors with its innovative format on endocrine topics.

I am proficient in seven languages and have strong IPR skills. My passion for music and ghazals provides personal inspiration.

I am eager to bring my dedication and vision to Executive Committee of ESI, working to advance Indian endocrinology globally.

Biography

I am an Associate Professor in Endocrinology at JSS Medical College, Mysore, Karnataka. I am deeply honoured to present my candidature, underpinned by a profound commitment and diverse involvement with ESI — a society that has been my guiding light in establishing a robust clinical practice and research endeavours.

My tenure as the coordinator of the ESI Research Methodology Workshop enriched my experience, allowing me to learn from both young residents and esteemed seniors. Serving on the ESI social media team enabled me to debunk myths effectively, emphasizing the pivotal role of endocrinologists in managing diabetes and endocrine disorders.

My involvement in Colours of India has brought us closer as a community. My roles in the Executive Committee of the Karnataka Endocrine Society and the Asia Pacific Consortium of Osteoporosis has not only elevated endocrine awareness locally and internationally but also provided me with the opportunity to represent India on global platforms.

I am deeply grateful to the ESI for recognizing my research through the Yuvaratna Award, the AV Gandhi Award, and the ESI International Travel Grant, all of which have significantly opened doors to national and international collaborations. I remain committed to further strengthening the ESI, supporting young endocrinologists in balancing research with clinical practice, and positioning Indian Endocrinology on the global map.

As a candidate for the Executive Committee of Endocrine Society of India, I envision a future where the gap between research and clinical practice is seamlessly bridged in an environment where all members can engage in collaborative and productive projects.

Having been guided by many esteemed seniors and benefited from numerous collaborations, I am committed to fostering an environment where such collaborations are nurtured and expanded.

My goal is to solidify the role of endocrinologists as the definitive experts for diabetes and other endocrine disorders, enhancing patient trust and care outcomes. Through strategic use of social media, I intend to amplify our message, debunk myths, and establish endocrinologists as accessible, authoritative figures in the field of diabetes and endocrinology.

Additionally, I aim to enhance our International research collaborations, showcasing Indian endocrinology on a global stage. Together, let us propel the Endocrine Society of India to new heights of recognition and global impact.

Biography

I completed my DMin Endocrinology from Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam. Since January 2017, I have been a consultant endocrinologist at Fernandez Foundation and an associate professor at Ayan Institute of Medical Sciences. I have excelled academically, a distinction holder in several MBBS subjects, university second in MD, and a topper in DM Endocrinology. I received the President’s Award of Appreciation in 2021 for my services to the Endocrine Society of India. I am actively involved in endocrine research. Additionally, I am an expert speaker and panellist at various regional, national, and international endocrine forums. Extracurricular passions involve long distance running and reading.

As a candidate for the Executive Committee of the Endocrine Society, my vision is centered on advancing our understanding and treatment of endocrine disorders while fostering collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity within our community.

First and foremost, I am committed to promoting research and education in the field of endocrinology. I envision facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration among clinicians as well as researchers to accelerate the translation of scientific knowledge into clinical practice, ultimately improving patient care and outcomes.

Furthermore, I believe in promoting inclusivity within the Endocrine Society. By actively engaging and supporting initiatives that include the entire spectrum of community members, we can create a more vibrant and equitable endocrine community.

Biography

The Endocrine Society of India has been my beacon of guidance for the past 15 years. Being part of the society has enabled me to engage with leading experts and brilliant young minds. I`ve had the honor of organizing Yuvacrinology, a platform dedicated to fostering research opportunities for young endocrinologists. Another privilege was coordinating the Research Methodology Workshop, empowering first-year residents to develop their research skills. The Satellite Symposia, focused on increasing endocrine awareness nationwide, has been a particularly gratifying endeavour. As secretary of SAFES, I fostered collaboration with regional partners, and locally, as the founding secretary of the Endocrine Society of Delhi, I enjoyed building community relationships. Initiatives like Colors of India have kindled a sense of unity and friendship among ESI members. I feel honored to be part of this journey and the society`s growth. Let`s unite in our diversity to strengthen ESI and the field of endocrinology.

Biography

Dr. Shehla Shaikh is a consultant Endocrinologist at Saifee and HN Reliance Hospital, Mumbai. She has been a member of the EC for 4 years and has been working diligently for the ESI since then. Her special areas of interest are diabetes in special situations, such as Ramadan, and obesity assessment and management, where she has published her work. She has been instrumental in initiating a number of new concepts including We care. She believes that she has the capabilities to continue working in the EC in view of her belief that each member is unique, with different skill sets which can be woven together to attain greater heights.

My vision statement is that

ESI continues to grow as a vibrant organization which protects, mentors, encourages, and supports its members in both academic and personal growth.

Hence, along with our continued emphasis on support and encouragement for basic and clinical academic research, we work towards

1. Creating subcommittees with specific interests and aims, e.g., AI, social media, legal, etc.

2. Having a portal where new ideas by members are directly communicated and action taken is documented.

3. Creating mentor-mentee groups for endocrinologists in the first five years of practice.

4. Formulating Indian guidelines for endocrine disorders with a section on management in cost-constrained situations, which would help a number of countries.

5. Collaboration with other national and international organizations on various academic fronts with student exchange programs.

6. Strong media coverage by endocrinologists with a support budget.

7. Patient education page with an interactive section.
